Somatic massage is about reconnecting with your body in a gentle, mindful way. In somatic massage, the focus isn’t just on releasing muscle tension—it’s about tuning into the sensations in your body and becoming more aware of how you’re holding stress or emotions. The touch is gentle, and you’re encouraged to really feel what’s happening inside as the body unwinds, releasing old patterns of tension that can sometimes come from stress or trauma.
Somatic yoga follows a similar path. It’s a slower, more mindful practice where you move with intention. Instead of rushing through poses, you take time to notice how your body feels in each position. The movements are simple but powerful, focusing on re-training the nervous system and helping the body let go of stored tension. It’s not just about flexibility or strength; it’s about feeling at ease in your own skin.
If you book a private session we will go over some of your goals with this work. It will include guidance on somatic practices, exercises for embodiment and interoception, and journal prompts for more self-reflection and discovery. We will help to identify held beliefs and stories that may no longer be serving you, and write new ones that have your goals in mind. It is an amazing way to live the way YOU choose rather than going over the same unconscious behaviors that may come from lower emotions like fear and shame..
